Description of Classes
AED: Automatic External Defibrillator: Learning the use of an AED to assist someone experiencing cardiac arrest, or irregular heartbeat.
Bloodborne Pathogens: The study of diseases that may be passed along by blood.
BLS: Basic Life Support is a certification that is used by nurses, doctors, physical therapists, and trainers. It is a level of medical care used on individuals experiencing life threatening conditions until they can receive full medical care.
BLS Instructor Training: To certify or recertify instructors that will have the ability to teach others BLS or Basic First Aid, CPR, life saving measures.
CPR: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Emergency procedure that is done when an individual stops breathing. This technique is taught to keep oxygen and blood flowing to preserve brain function for those in cardiac arrest.
First Aid: Is the assistance offered to an individual when they are suffering from injury whether it be minor or severe to prevent the injury from getting worst until help arrives. Ex: a cut or excessive bleeding
First Aid, CPR and AED is normal for College Students, High School students, Foster Parents, AFL providers (for Pediatric, Adults, Children) or ordinary people.
These classes are American Red Cross or American Heart Association Certification
